About the inside pix: I HATE opening the djs up all the way, so I usually just photograph them holding them open slightly. Yes, I'm paranoid, but that's why there are shadows on the inside pictures. And that's why I will never, ever scan a doujin (unless I have 60 copies of it). So, in reality there are no shadows...
HETALIA Doujin List:
Hoshitamago Doujinshi:
Title: Fine Again
Circle: hoshitamago ( ほしたまご)
Artist: hoshi
Size: B5
Pages: 102
Pairing: US x UK
Explicit: Marked as R-18, explicit sex scene in 'Waratte Kedamono' but all the other stories have light yaoi and fluff.
Price: $90: free shipping anywhere in the world
Hoshitamago anthology includes:
Don't Think That It's Ordinary LOVE
Furikaeba Ame no Furu
Waratte Kedamono
England's Observation Diary (Ingirisu Kansatsu Nikki)
If you're a hoshi fan, then you probably know about the existence of this book. It is really lovely and full of five stories (the short titular Fine Again and four reprints). These works harness Hoshitamago's amazing visual power and storytelling. Moreover, Waratte Kedamono has a rare (for hoshi) sex scene which is very rewarding. Moreover, the doujinshi in the collection are all older and hard to find. Let's hope hoshitamago puts out another anthology of their work at the end of 2009!

Title: The Far Side of the "Goodbye"
Circle: Tomoe Manufacture
Artist: Tomoe
Size: B5
Pages: 68 (no, that's not a typo!)
Pairing: France x UK
Explicit: It's marked R-18, but it's more exciting than explicit...
Price: $35, $3 s&h
I love Tomoe Manufacture because they concentrate on more than one pairing, and they are absolutely fantastic at everything they draw. Seriously, fantastic. (I've been eyeing their Greece x Japan doujins for awhile now). Anyway, this offering has a gorgeous cover with France and England in excruciating detail and beautiful color. The back is them in a similar pose, but it's definitely slightly different. And then, it just gets better. This anthology length offering is divided into four chapters, which sum to a great story arc complete with two pure BL scenes (one near the beginning, one at the end). These scenes are definitely hearty and HOT (the second one is longer than the first) without being crude: ie, no black strips anywhere :-). Tomoe Manufacture is masterful at drawing characters in great detail, but the circle's grasp on perscpetive and backgrounds is what makes the art in their books so complete. If you're a fan of their work, or you like FrUK, you should pick this up. Every page is full, every panel is well thought out, and every aspect of this doujin is a pleasure to any Hetalia fan.
Pages: 40
Pairing: US x UK, France x UK
Explicit: R-18, for a REASON. *fans self*
Price: $35, $3 s&h
I've been looking for some of Ringo MAX's doujinshi for awhile, and it's because they do actual smex...so, no joke/fake R-18 warning here. Not only do Alfred and Arthur look eminently rapeable on this sturdy, sheen-y cover, (do you not see their eyes? Oh yes, please!) but their clothes are...well...I have a uniform problem (as do, I suspect, most Hetalia fans xD). This problem leads me to be attracted to doujinshi with Al and Artie in their "uniforms before uniforms became boring" dress. (Yes, that is a real phenomena).
HOWEVER, this doujin is all about angst (and smex angst). Alfred becomes independent. England reacts by running to Francis' arms...cuz you know, they're *always* open. 'A lot of wild confusion and sad feelings that lead to Arthur and Alfred hurting each other' would be probably be an appropriate summary of the story. You just feel really bad for them. (Also, they look so hot, it's like statistically impossible that they be so upset). Not a happy/cute/fluffy doujin, but sometimes, that's what you need to round out your collection. The art is amazing. There is no other word for it. Although less detailed than, say a Tomoe Manufacture doujin that I have for sale, the chars looks great, and the focus is really on them, and the story. You really, really, can't go wrong with this one...

Title: Memories
Circle: kagechiyo
Artist: okamoto
Size: B5
Pages: 40
Pairing: FrancexUK
Explicit: No, but very cute and definite boy love going on...
Price: $25, $3 s&h
*There is a small smudge mark on this doujin, but WHO CARES, FRANCE AND ENGLAND PLZ...um, I mean, it has NO influence whatsoever on the text or art. And I do mean small. I mean like, you'd have to have robot eyes to care...
Let's see, the genius of this absolutely unknown circle drawing France and England back to back wearing period clothes=to die for. It just gets better inside. Arthur is incredibly emotional and vulnerable, and France is--rather than being his usual perverted self--quite pensive and driven (but still sexually opportunistic...come on, he's not DEAD or anything...). The story, as you might have guessed, revolves around France and England's past, which is interesting to see (as well as incredibly cute). Arthur casts spells and is fantastical (I'm a sucker for mythical! Arthur) and the FrUK ending will make you incredibly happy (unless you're homophobic and/or demented). It's rare to see a doujin that focuses pretty much solely on these two characters, so if you're a France UK shipper, you're gonna want this one.
Title: The Glorious Setting Sun
Circle: SKK
Artist: Koguwa Masato (こぐわまさと)
Size: B5
Pages: 32
Pairing: US x UK
Explicit: No, but some BL and angst
Price: $35, $3 s&h
I really love SKK for their consistently lovely artwork, their gorgeous covers and their serious stories. This doujin is my very favorite work of theirs. The cover feels like watercolor paper, and the inside pages are very stiff and sturdy--this is a quality piece of work. The story is about Alfred wanting to leave Arthur. It is presented in a unique manner--not many panels on each page, but text incuts and just enough detail to make each page feel full. I really adore their style and the boys look very nice in their period garb. This book just came out, so don't let it get by you!
Title: Everytime
Circle: Sayou
Artist: Right/Left
Size: B5
Pages: 28
Pairing: USxUK
Explicit: Yes, but are you really gonna let that stop you?
Price: $32 + $3 s&h
For some reason, this cover reminds me of the Britney Spears song of the same name... *shot*. But, that is certainly not the timbre...nor the mood...nor the tone...of this doujin. Of course, there are always some light-hearted moments in the continuing antics of this straight comedy pair...until that hard yaoi thingy rears its incredibly non proverbialhead. Basically, England has a bad day which ends in two ways, depending on your interpretation of things... 1) Alfred wins and ambushes England with surprise sex or 2) Arthur snaps and tsundere-seduces Alfred. (Actually I think it's kind of both). Basically, the tension between the two rockets until something has to give...did I mention. How good. Arthur looks. On every page of this doujin.???????

Cocca Doujinshi!!!!
Title: Lieder Ohne Worte
Circle: Cocca
Artist: Kokka
Size: B5
Pages: 28
Pairing: Roderich main, but with Germany, France, Switzerland and Liechtenstein
Explicit: There's hints of BL...mostly in the France part...see below for details
Price: $35 + $3 s&h
This beautiful doujin, with its enticing picture of Roderich on the cover and the gorgeous title on the back, is divided--as I believe is its eponymous musical work--into parts. However, each part, like said work, does not really tell a story so much as it...exists...a testament to the high artistic thinking skills of this circle. (And their genius in drawing Roderich.) Each part seems to capture a different feeling, however, as the first part focuses on Austria's turbulent relationship with Switzerland, with Liechtenstein looking curiously on, and the second involves Austria's beloved piano and an intrusion from a pervy France, and the third is Austria yelling at Germany but subsequently softening just enough to give us a tender moment. It is definitely about three different strains of emotion in Austria and how he acts or feels about three people with whom he shares a past.
Of course, the art is very, very good, up to the usual standard. Capturing Austria with manifold emotions is a task I would trust only to cocca, and the hints of romance are just enticing enough to keep one interested, though the story is a serious story. Pick it up; you won't regret it!
